Marlen Esparza not only qualified for London, but is the first American women to qualify for boxing, ever! Winning her final bout at the Women's World Championships held in May, Esparza qualified for the London Games. She is a four-time National Champion. Esparza competes at the flyweight, which is 51kg/112lbs. This 2008 Pan American Games Gold medalist has been fascinated with boxing since the age of 11. She believes she's where she needs to be and has already fought her matches in her head. Esparza explains how the feeling of competition makes her excited about London.
