Ahmed Faraz.. en.wikipedia.org Hilal-e-pakistan awarded by asif ali zardari posthumously date 19nov.2010 a great progressive poet of our time,lived from jan.14,1931 to aug.26th,2008.His real name was sayed ahmed shah,pen name FARAZ. Faraz: birth place Kohat, an ethnic Sayed pashtoon ,had his education in Edward College Peshawar and Peshawar University where he was granted, MA in urdu and M,A in farsi.. he was appointed lecturer in urdu department of the same university later..he spoke hinko pashto urdu and farsi in addition to fluent english. Faraz' poetry was a reflection of his life and that of his country-men,who witnessed the tragic events preceding separation of East Pakistan,martial law and military dictatorships one after the other. He dreamed and yearned for democracy,national unity and justice.He spent some time in jail and six years of exile from pakistan,that helped him collect award after award and help complete a collection of poetry that he called "mohasara". The power of the pen,his teaching of non violent protestation for human rights,some great pearls included for your listening pleasure.. Hilal-e-Imtiaz that was bestowed on him by the civilian government year 2004 for his distinguished work; he returned that in 2006, to protest the military rule of zia.
