Best Karen dance 1: Union day Karen don dance 1995 - from the 1st floor [complete] (1/2) Video Clips. Duration : 5.33 Mins.
This splendid dance is Karen people's traditional dance, which is called "ton" in Pwo Karen, and "don" or "don yein" in Burmese. I took this video at the traditional dance festival held for Union Day (Pyidaunzune) at the National Theater in Yangon, Myanmar, on 1995/2/14. These dancers were delegated from Karen State. Part 2: www.youtube.com I fortunately happened to have the chance to videotape another don dance from the 2nd floor on the next day. You can see the beautiful formations better from the 2nd floor. From the 2nd floor: www.youtube.com Karen State selects the most excellent dancers for Union Day, so the Union Day Karen don group can be said to be the best don group in Myanmar.
