MK Čiurlionis - In the Forest (Miške): Symphonic Poem (1901) Tube. Duration : 15.40 Mins.

In the Forest (Miške): Symphonic Poem (1901) NOTE: I suggest viewing the video in full screen mode at high resolution, in order to read the score clearly. This is a tone poem by the Lithuanian composer and painter Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis (1875-1911), who is associated with late Romanticism in music and the Symbolist and Art nouveau movements in visual art. A musical prodigy, Čiurlionis traveled to study at the Warsaw Conservatory with Antoni Sygietynnski and Zygmunt Noskowski. He then enrolled in the Leipzig Conservatory to further his studies under Salomon Jadassohn and Carl Reinecke. After the loosening of restrictions on ethnic minorities following 1905 Russian Revolution, Čiurlionis began to identify explicitly as Lithuanian and study the Lithuanian language in more depth; today, he is regarded as Lithuania's national composer. Conductor: Juozas Domarkas Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra
