BURMA: Ethnic Cleansing & Genocide/Save the Rohingya Muslims
BURMA: Ethnic Cleansing & Genocide/Save the Rohingya Muslims Video Clips. Duration : 8.30 Mins.
BURMA: Ethnic Cleansing & Genocide/CCTJP Movement Journalists: Tim King, Siraj Davis, and Agron Belica Aldin Entertainment Music Group Music Produced by Sinma Co-Produced by Jamal Belica Video Production by Tim King Editor In Chief Commissioned by Salem-News.com __________________ SALADIN, WHERE ARE YOU? The dissolution of the British Empire after the Second World War left a number of problems that still fester, several in the Muslim World. The most notorious, of course, is Palestine, a problem that now preoccupies its successor, the American Empire. There is the unresolved question of Kashmir that endangers the peace of the Indo-Pak subcontinent. There is also the British legacy of the Northwest Frontier in which the 19th-century British colonialists created an ad hoc border that divides the Pashto-speaking people in Afghanistan and Pakistan on both sides of it, a guaranteed recipe for instability and conflict, as we Americans should know by now. And then there is another legacy, especially in Southeast Asia, not the result so much of imperial conquest and as of colonial enterprise. During the 19th and first half of the 20th centuries, hundreds of thousands of workers were imported from India to work the plantations and fields of Malaysia and parts of Burma. Many were encouraged to settle there to make colonial Burma, for example, a fruitful model of the economic benefits of British imperialism. Hence the presence of the Rohingyas in modern Burma, the descendants of the ...

Analysis: Plight of Myanmar Muslims
Analysis: Plight of Myanmar Muslims Tube. Duration : 24.07 Mins.
According to vice chairman of the Muslim National Democratic Party for Development (NDPD) Hla Thein, more than 100 Rohingya Muslims have been killed in a recent wave of sectarian violence against Muslims in Myanmar's western state of Rakhine. Myanmar army forces have allegedly provided the Buddhists with containers of petrol to set ablaze the houses of Muslim villagers and force them out of their houses. The Buddhist-majority government of Myanmar refuses to recognize Rohingyas and has classified them as illegal migrants, even though the Rohingyas are said to be Muslim descendants of Persian, Turkish, Bengali, and Pathan origins, who migrated to Myanmar as early as the 8th century. To shed more light on the issue of Rohingya Muslims plight in Myanmar, Press TV's News Analysis program has conducted an interview with James Jennings, president of the Conscience International from Atlanta, Kamran Bokhari, the London-based Middle East and South Asia director of Stratfor [intelligence company]. Genocide of Christians & Muslims in Burma, the Karen people speak!!!
Genocide of Christians & Muslims in Burma, the Karen people speak!!! Video Clips. Duration : 18.72 Mins.
Muslims and Christians have lived in Burma for hundreds of years, although many arrived only after Burma's annexation by Great Britain in the 19th Century. Racial and religious tensions have run high between Muslims and Burmans since independence in 1948. Successive Burmese regimes have encouraged or instigated violence against Muslims as a way of diverting the public's attention away from economic or political concerns. The most recent outbreak of violence occurred in cities across Burma. The report also examines Karen relations with the Muslim population in Karen State, particularly the persecution of Muslims by the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA), a Karen group allied with the SPDC. The DKBA has been involved in the destruction of mosques and the forced relocation of Muslim villagers. DKBA soldiers have tried to force Muslims to worship Buddhist monks and put up Buddhist altars. Restrictions have also been placed on Muslims to force them to become vegetarian. Both the DKBA and the SPDC force Muslims in Karen State to perform forced labour for them on a regular basis. This report is based on interviews with Muslim refugees from Karen State and Muslim travellers and traders from central Burma and the Western border conducted by KHRG researchers between October 2001 and February 2002. All of the interviews quoted in the text are with Burmese Muslims with the exception of Interview #6 with "Moe Zaw Shwe", who is a Karen Christian. There are a higher number of ...

| This work, updated for the paperback edition, examines how civic ties between Hindus and Muslims in different Indian cities serve to contain, or even prevent, ethnic violence. It should be of interest to South Asian scholars and policymakers as well as to those studying multiethnic societies in other areas of the world. ...Read
