Kazakhstan is mainly known as part of the former Soviet Union, maybe as well as the biggest interior or also riparian state of the Aral Sea. A few people associate Kazakhstan with a wild lowlands and rough mountain ranges and this is very the Kazakh band ULYTAU starts off! Somewhere settled between traditional rhythms, classical elements and hard rocking sounds ULYTAU can easily be compared with artists like Apocalyptica, Korpklaani or In Extremo. I shot this video in the jungle near the reservoir and it was an extremely difficult shoot because we wanted to use the natural surroundings, rather than a studio setting! Directed by Suzie Selman Dle Yaman is the debut video appearance from Armenian-Lebanese rising star C-Rouge who has grown to become a national icon of electronic dance music. Extracted from his second artist album "Eternity", Dle Yaman features the enchanting vocals of C-Rouge's very own mother - Shake Baghdassarian - and has very recently been transformed into a colorful video clip by promising director Suzie Selman. The video begins in the depths of a dark, mysterious forest with a pomegranate lying motionless on the soil, split in half. A frail woman wanders around barefoot, entirely dressed in white, anxiously searching for something without ever finding it, and getting more and more despaired until collapsing down to the ground in sweet surrender. Then a door opens into a world far removed from the mystical forest, switching scenes to a fully packed club radiating with colorful music. The DJ makes his way across the dance floor heading towards the DJ booth, plugs his headphones in, and begins quenching the crowd's thirst for dance music. Entirely entranced with the DJ's epic music, the crowd notices not the angelic creature appearing amongst their flailing corpses, transposing her quest from the ancient nature-formed forest to the modern man-made world of sound and light.
