How God Made the English - A White and Christian People? Video Clips. Duration : 59.07 Mins.

BBC Programme 2012 This series examines the idea that there is an ethnic core to Englishness. Is there any basis for the claim that to be truly English you have to be Anglo-Saxon? And what about the fact that until very recently being English also meant being Church of England Christian? In this series Professor Diarmaid MacCulloch has been arguing that God made the English. But did he also make them white and Christian?

postheadericon Reinventing the Manchus: An Imperial People in Post-Imperial China: Mark Elliot

Reinventing the Manchus: An Imperial People in Post-Imperial China: Mark Elliot Tube. Duration : 83.23 Mins.

Professor Mark Elliott gives the 73rd George Morrison Lecture at The Australian National University on June 20, 2012. His talk is entitled 'Reinventing the Manchus: An Imperial People in Post-Imperial China'. With the 1911 overthrow of the Qing dynasty (1644-1911), many predicted that the dynasty's ethnic founders, the Manchus, would soon be swallowed up by the Han majority -- the final act in a long process of acculturation that began in 1644, which even the long sequestration of the conquerors in walled garrisons could not prevent. The destruction of those walls, and continued prejudice against them in the first half of the 1900s, created a highly adverse environment for people wishing to go on being 'Manchu'. Facing dwindling numbers, and at first denied official status as a minority nationality, their fate appeared even more uncertain in the early years of the People's Republic of China. All the more astonishing, then, that the Manchus not only survived as an identity group, but are today the second most numerous of China's fifty-five minority nationalities. This lecture reconstructs that story and takes up the problem of the paradoxical survival of the Manchus into the twenty-first century to ask two simple questions: How is it that the Manchus are still with us today? And what does their continued existence mean for modern China? A historian of relations between the Chinese heartland and the peoples living in the steppe frontier, Professor Mark Elliott is among the ...

BNP Haters Beware, The British People Are Waking Up Video Clips. Duration : 5.40 Mins.

TheBritish National Party believes in telling the truth, even if it is sometimes uncomfortable to hear or offensive to those who would rather bury their heads in the sand than face real problems in our society. But while we often pass quite critical comment on the impact of immigration, multi-culturalism and alien religions on the indigenous people of our lands, we have no animosity towards immigrants, their descendants or the followers of non-native religions. Nor do we intend to encourage others to feel such animosity, or believe that anything we have to say is likely to 'stir up hatred' against anyone. In fact, we believe that by providing a peaceful and Constitutional outlet for the anger and the frustration felt by millions of our people over the undemocratic transformation of our country by our political masters, the BNP actually defuses tensions. Where there is 'hate' we seek to turn it into righteous anger and political action against the only people who deserve to be hated - the politicians who use our taxes to turn our country into a place where we often feel like strangers in our own land.

postheadericon Genocide of Christians & Muslims in Burma, the Karen people speak!!!

Genocide of Christians & Muslims in Burma, the Karen people speak!!! Video Clips. Duration : 18.72 Mins.

Muslims and Christians have lived in Burma for hundreds of years, although many arrived only after Burma's annexation by Great Britain in the 19th Century. Racial and religious tensions have run high between Muslims and Burmans since independence in 1948. Successive Burmese regimes have encouraged or instigated violence against Muslims as a way of diverting the public's attention away from economic or political concerns. The most recent outbreak of violence occurred in cities across Burma. The report also examines Karen relations with the Muslim population in Karen State, particularly the persecution of Muslims by the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA), a Karen group allied with the SPDC. The DKBA has been involved in the destruction of mosques and the forced relocation of Muslim villagers. DKBA soldiers have tried to force Muslims to worship Buddhist monks and put up Buddhist altars. Restrictions have also been placed on Muslims to force them to become vegetarian. Both the DKBA and the SPDC force Muslims in Karen State to perform forced labour for them on a regular basis. This report is based on interviews with Muslim refugees from Karen State and Muslim travellers and traders from central Burma and the Western border conducted by KHRG researchers between October 2001 and February 2002. All of the interviews quoted in the text are with Burmese Muslims with the exception of Interview #6 with "Moe Zaw Shwe", who is a Karen Christian. There are a higher number of ...

Evidence of HOLDING BACK VACCINE TO CREATE PANIC It is my DUTY to WARN PEOPLE Tube. Duration : 4.78 Mins.

If you knew of an organisation which was going to commit an atrocity or conspire to you have a DUTY to warn people and anyone who stops that information getting out is as guilty as the perpetrators. Full video can be viewed here- www.cfr.org Transcript- www.cfr.org COHEN: Well, it's an interesting question, though. Would you be against mandating? SIMONSEN: Well, I think this is very interesting because, I mean, especially for the health-care worker example. I mean, there are many, many good reasons why health care workers should be considering immunization for their own safety but also to protect and, first, do no harm to the patients that they are treating. Having said that, does it work to mandate? I think what would work better would be to say that there was a shortage and people tend to buy more of something that's in demand. (Laughter.) We saw that -- there was one season where, really, people lined up all night to get a flu shot. COHEN: Right. SIMONSEN: And I mean --- COHEN: Well, there is shortage. SIMONSEN: No, actually, because we thought we were going to need two doses for every adult and since we are - only one dose, so, actually, we have twice as many doses and enough for the whole population at this point, I understand. COHEN: But it's not there today, so -- SIMONSEN: Right, right. But I mean, that's --

People of Aleppo Take to the Streets: We Want FSA OUT!!! We Want Syrian Army Tube. Duration : 1.83 Mins.

The residents of Aleppo apparently have had enough of the "Free Syrian Army" (FSA) [aka Western-backed "freedom fighters"]. They took to the streets of Aleppo in a big protest that started from al-Sabeel neighborhood. The protest included all walks of life. What united all these people was one message: "We want FSA out! We want the Syrian Army". This sentiment is not confined to the residents of Aleppo but is also a reflection of a large segment of Syria's population that extends from its north to its south. During a recent football (soccer) match in Kuwait between the Syrian national team and its Jordanian counterpart, one "Syrian" supporter in the crowd carried the tri-star French mandate flag of the FSA, and he was vociferously kicked out by the Syrians, an act that shows how most Syrians actually despise all FSA supporters.

Collective Memory, National Identity, and Ethnic Conflict: Greece, Bulgaria, and the Macedonian Question

Collective Memory, National Identity, and Ethnic Conflict: Greece, Bulgaria, and the Macedonian Question

Roudometof provides an in-depth analysis of inter-ethnic relations in the southern Balkans. He examines the evolution of the Macedonian Question and the production of rival national narratives by Greeks, Bulgarians, and Macedonians. He introduces the concept of a national narrative in order to account for the production and proliferation of different forms of collective memory among the rival nation-states. Roudometof deconstructs the national narratives of the competing sides and shows the limits of these narratives and their biases. He also develops an alternative interpretation of Macedonian national formation.

The contentious issue of Macedonian national minorities in the southern Balkans is examined as well as the issue of the Albanian movements toward self-determination and succession in Kosovo and western Macedonia. Roudometof argues that the Macedonian minority groups are not as numerous in the neighboring states as it is conventionally assumed. With regard to the Albanian national question, he provides a review of the post-1945 relations between Albania and Greece, the Albanians of Kosovo and the Serbs, and the Albanians and Macedonians. He argues that the Albanian nationalist movements have grown out of the interaction between Albanians and their neighboring nations and ethnic groups. An important resource for scholars, students, and other researchers involved with the Balkans and ethnic conflict resolution in general.

Accommodating Diversity: National Policies that Prevent Ethnic Conflict

Part social policy analysis and part intellectual autobiography, Accommodating Diversity mines the world's most troubling incidences of racial and ethnic conflict in order to find national policies that defuse the strains of cohabitation and encourage true reconciliation. Debunking the notion that conflict is inevitable when dominant and minority communities cohabit, Irwin Deutscher looks at five successful policies, from Swedish legislation dealing with immigrant education to the Chieftaincy act in Ghana, as he examines the possibilities for successful and harmonious intergroup relations.

Deutscher concludes that the pursuit of a benign pluralist policy leads ultimately to assimilation, providing a political solution which satisfies the champions of both diversity and unity. With its problem solving focus, study questions, and introductory essays to each section that place the material within sociological theory, this book is an ideal supplement for courses in race, ethnicity, and social problems. ...Read more
